KOFIASE STRUGGLES TO KEEP PACE WITH INDUSTRY COMPETITION
In1986 the Board of KoFase Entreprise, a small scale business enTty in the
staTonery industry in Ghana recruited Mr. Boateng, a young graduate of GIMPA
with a Bachelors Degree in AccounTng as Chief ExecuTve O±cer.
At the job
interview Mr. Boateng declared;

players all operaTng in this rather busy industry. Strategic MarkeTng intervenTons,
dominance in providing the value consumers are looking for and the mix of
businesses will be key in any new strategy.
²ypical of most small scale businesses in Ghana, the owners of the company have
also invested in a number of industry related acTviTes such as producTon of
jo´ers and exercise books for school children and have operaTons in some areas
of the country notably, the Greater Accra, AshanT, Brong Ahafo and the Western
Regions. Across its businesses KoFase employs a total of 41 sta³ and has a
turnover of twelve million (Ghc12, 000,000) Ghana cedis.
